At 2:46 am on Thursday, February 25, 2021 Parsons Police received a report of an armed robbery at Pete's Convenience Store at 32nd and Main Street.  Two Black Males had entered the store, simulated being armed and demanded money. The two suspects fled the store on foot with an undetermined amount of cash.

Parsons Police arrived and began an area search for the two suspects.

Officer Keenan Roberts observed two potential suspects on foot near 26th Street and Southern Avenue. The subjects ran into a field. A K-9 Unit from the Labette County Sheriffs Office was requested. Upon arriving on-site, the K-9 tracked the subjects to a residence in the 1200 block of Ward Avenue.

One suspect was located inside a residence and was taken into custody for Aggravated Robbery, a felony. A search of the residence located evidence connected to the robbery.

Tyrell Dorsey a 19-year-old, Black Male was arrested on one count of aggravated robbery. He was just released from the County Jail on bond a week ago for a prior arrest for aggravated domestic violence and Burglary. The Probation Department was also alerted to Dorsey's violation of his conditions of probation.

Police are continuing to follow-up on leads to locate the second suspect in this robbery.

Parsons Police Chief Robert Spinks said "I want to thank the citizens who called and reported this crime. Their timely reporting allowed for a quick police response and the capture of the first suspect without any injury to officers or the general public."

"See It! Hear It! Report It! Chocked up another successful citizen-police partnership this morning! I also want to thank the victims at the convenience store for their calmness," said Parsons Deputy Chief of Police Dennis Dodd. "In a Constitutional Carry state like Kansas, these suspects are lucky that they didn't meet their demise at the hands of patron walking into store this morning. If you simulate that you have a gun and demand money, well folks are going to think you are a fully capable felonious robber and you could easily get shot," said Dodd.

"Congratulations go to Officer Keenan Roberts for his efforts in locating the suspects that lead to the capture of one suspect in a speedy manner. His quick response and that of the other night shift officers ensured that our suspect was rapidly and safely taken into custody, said Spinks. This is another win for the community, the department and our patrol force."

A/Commander Kyle Wiford is coordinating this on-going investigation and citizens are encouraged to "See It, Hear It, Report It." If anyone has any further information on this incident or any other criminal activity, please contact the Parsons Police Department at 421-7060 or call the Tip Line at 421-7057 or email at tips@parsonspd.com.
