Armed Robbery Foiled

07/23/2019

On July 22, 2019 at 10:42 pm Parsons Police responded to a report of an armed robbery that took place at Border Town, 2901 Main Parsons.

The caller reported that a man wearing a mask came into the store drawing a weapon and demanded money, but before any was taken another vehicle pulled into the parking lot spooking the would-be robber causing him to flee the scene empty handed. The unknown white male was carrying a black semiautomatic pistol and displayed it in the commission of the crime. Although there was no money taken this is still being investigated as an Aggravated Robbery.

It is not believed that the suspect is an immediate danger to the community. It is believed that this incident was targeted and isolated to the store that was victimized.

Parsons Police Chief Robert Spinks and Narcotics Taskforce Commander Mike Powell believe this to be link to the narcotics trade in Parsons. "this type of criminal activity is the mode of operation for most addicted drug users needing to get money for their fix", said Spinks. We will do our best to follow our leads on this case to a conviction and hopefully this will link us to known drug dealers in Parsons", according to Powell." We are going to make and example of people who put our community at risk and endanger our citizens," Powell finished.

This continues to be an on-going investigation and citizens are encouraged to "See It, Hear It, Report It."
