On December 10, 2021, around 11:47 am Parsons Police officers were dispatched to the 2100 block of Crawford to take a report for a stolen vehicle. The vehicle was described as a red Nissan Altima with a Kansas tag on it.

Approximately 3:50 pm on December 11, 2021, Officer Rory Johnson was called to the area of 10th and Main for a report of a vehicle matching that description being in the area. While responding Officer Johnson located that vehicle going west on Main near 14th Street. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle, but when they exited their patrol cars the driver drove off. The driver was recognized as Daniel Roy Adams, 43 of Parsons, who had previously been identified as the suspect in the theft.

Adams evaded officers throughout the city reaching approximate speeds of 63mph in residential areas. Adams came to a stop at one point in the 2100 block of Crawford and when officers attempted to arrest Adams, he took off in the vehicle again hitting the arm of an officer trying to grab ahold of him. Eventually, Adams stopped the vehicle in the 1800 block of Clark in the alley and took off on foot jumping over fences. Corporal Ryan Shirk gave chase on foot and stopped Adams in the alley behind the 1600 block of Stevens. Adams was Tased by an officer and taken into custody without further incident.

Daniel Adams was arrested on December 1, 2021, for Theft and Burglary and released while waiting for official charges to be filed by Labette County Attorney's Office.

Parsons Police Chief Robert Spinks said, "I hope that we can eventually stem the flow through this revolving door of repeat offenders in Labette County. This man has been arrested for two felony level crimes within a two-week period. I think that the public needs to demand that the court system hold offenders accountable for their actions. We can't keep wasting taxpayer money to arrest the same criminals over and over again expecting different results. We need a better solution. I have always said that we cannot arrest ourselves out of crime."

Parsons Police are requesting that the Labette County Attorney's Office file charges of Motor Vehicle Theft, Aggravated Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer, Fleeing and Attempting to Elude, Reckless Driving, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Paraphernalia, Driving While Suspended, Probation Violation, Interference with Law Enforcement, and multiple traffic ordinances.
