Drive-by Shooting Investigation Underway

04/19/2022

In the evening of Saturday April 16th, Parsons Police were called to the area of the 500 block of South 31st for a report of gunshots being heard. The call was made by a neighbor who heard multiple shots.

When Parsons Police Officers arrived on scene, they began searching for shell casings and found a couple of casings in front of a residence. Contact was made with the sole occupant in the house who was identified as Jasmine Pierce, 39 of Parsons.

The shooting was investigated by officers, and it was determined that it was not a random act of violence and that the house and intended occupant were the intended target. The motive is still unclear at this time. The 10mm shell casings and witness statements were collected. Police are following up on leads for this case and hope that new information will come to light in the near future.

Parsons Police Chief Robert Spinks said, "despite what a couple of local social media users might say, these attacks are not random acts of violence. The victims most likely know the suspects even if they don't know who it was immediately following the attack. At this time we can't speculate what the attack was over but, we hope that the investigation reveals some information soon."

This continues to be an on-going investigation and citizens are encouraged to "See It, Hear It, Report It." If anyone has any further information on this incident or any other criminal activity, please contact the Parsons Police Department at 421-7060 or call the Tip Line at 421-7057 or email at tips@parsonspd.com.
