07/16/2019

On July 15, 2019 at approximately 7:19 pm, Parsons Police Officers were dispatched to 23rd and Corning for a report of shots fired. When officers arrived, they were told by witnesses that there were two vehicles involved. One black SUV and one tan SUV. Witnesses gave officers the vehicle description and general direction of travel.

Witnesses and evidence indicate that there were approximately 21 shots fired during the exchange. There were no reports of any injuries from suspects, victims, or witnesses in the area. There were no reports of damage to surrounding houses.

During the course of the initial investigation it was discovered that the black SUV was driven by Parsons resident Treeman Wesley, age 38. Treeman abandoned the black SUV at the Stock Yard Travel Plaza where police officers located and seized the vehicle. Treeman initially fled the scene and was picked up by a third party and taken to Pittsburg Kansas. Treeman has since been in contact with law enforcement.

Parsons Police Chief Robert Spinks says "this is a case that needs a citizen or citizens to step up and come forward with information. We have a very vocal community and we need participation to see this case to the end." Spinks continued "making a community safe requires all of the citizens to do their part."

This continues to be an on-going investigation and citizens are encouraged to "See It, Hear It, Report It."
