On January 17, 2021 at approximately 10:00 am Corporal Garret Lucas was responding to a call for service in the 1400 block of Morgan when his patrol car was struck by a vehicle at 15th and Morgan, by a car that ran the southbound stop sign colliding with the front of Corporal Lucas's patrol car.

Parsons Police Chief said, "I am just glad that no one was injured in this accident. I would like to remind the citizens of Parsons that there are quite a few uncontrolled and two-way intersections in the city, so be prepared to stop at every intersection. Distracted driving is a leading cause for accidents across America and technology has only made that worse. Be safe, buckle up, and put down the phone."
