Gunshot Near Old Hog Town

09/24/2019

On September 23, 2019 at approximately 2:36pm Parsons Police and first responders were called to the area just south of Southern Ave in the 2300 block for a report of an individual with a gunshot wound.

Officers arrived to find a 20-year-old white male with a gunshot wound to the head. The injury was obviously self-inflicted according to investigators. The victim had left a letter of intent and the family has been notified and are with the victim at the hospital. Although severely injured the victim is still alive at this time.

Parsons Police Chief Robert Spinks says, "this is an isolated incident and is not connected to any other incidents that have taken place in Parsons in recent weeks. Despite many rumors that have been spread on social media this is not foul play and is being investigated as an attempted suicide. This is an unfortunate event and our hearts go out to the family."

This continues to be an on-going investigation and citizens are encouraged to "See It, Hear It, Report It." If anyone has any further information on this incident or any other criminal activity, please contact the Parsons Police Department at 421-7060 or call the Tip Line at 421-7057 or email at tips@parsonspd.com.
