Vehicle Found Torched

On January 10, 2022, Parsons Police Officers were called about a stolen vehicle that was located around 25000 and Kiowa in Labette County. The vehicle was found to belong to the Parsons Recreation Center.

During the investigation it was discovered that the vehicle was stolen from the Marvel Park stadium. Along with the white Ram 1500 pickup truck an acetylene torch was also stolen. Parsons officers also took a report of an attempted Theft and Arson report at the Labette Bank ATM in front of the Chamber of Commerce building in the 500 block of Main. The video showed a white 1500 Ram pickup in front of the ATM while the occupant used and acetylene touch to attempt to cut the ATM open. No money was taken from the ATM.

Officers are working in collaboration with the State Fire Marshal's office and the Labette County Sheriff's Department for the arson of the stolen vehicle. The vehicle is considered a total loss. This would be the third vehicle stolen from the City of Parsons that was set on fire. Officials are still gathering information as this case develops.

Parsons Police Deputy Chief Dennis Dodd said, "we hope that the many cameras that citizens have facing the street can paint a picture for us to make a good solid case and get an arrest. If anyone knows of anything, please call, and talk to an officer."

This continues to be an on-going investigation and citizens are encouraged to "See It, Hear It, Report It." If anyone has any further information on this incident or any other criminal activity, please contact the Parsons Police Department at 421-7060 or call the Tip Line at 421-7057 or email at
