Karim's K-9 Corner

Karim's K-9 Corner

The Parsons Police Department has been developing a K-9 program over the last few years to help combat the narcotics epidemic in Parsons. This program was recently given life and was made possible by generous donations from civic groups, businesses, and individuals in the community. The Parsons Police Department has officially purchased a dual-purpose dog that is trained in Tracking and Narcotics Detection. These two areas will be the biggest help to our agency and the community to stem the flow of illegal drugs that plague our great city.

The K-9 Handler is Corporal Kyle Shields. Corporal Shields is a 5-year veteran of the Parsons Police Department and a former United States Marine. Corporal Shields was a K-9 Handler while serving in the Marine Corps and is a great addition as the Parsons Police Departments K-9 Handler.

The Parsons Police Department is recognizing the donations by way of a Donor Plaque in the lobby of the police department. This is to thank the supporters of the Parsons K-9 Program who have made donations. This program relies heavily on the donations of citizens and businesses for the care, up-keep, and new equipment for the K-9 Program. These supporters helped launch and continue to support the K-9 Program. Their level of contribution falls into the following 4 tiers.

Diamond Donator-         Contributions of $10,000 and up

Ruby Donator-               Contributions of $5,000 - $9,999

Emerald Donator-          Contributions of $1,000 - $4,999

Paw Donator-                Contributions of $50 - $999

These donor contributions will be displayed on a plaque in the lobby of the police department. We also want to recognize the 'Paw Supporters' by adding their name to our web page as a token of appreciation.

If you wish to make a donation to the K-9 Program, please go to the Parsons Area Community Foundation to donate in care of the Parsons Police K-9 Program. Here is a link to the Foundation:

K-9 Officer Karim

Hello, I am K-9 Officer Karim. I am a full-blooded Belgium Malinois and I love to find things. You could say I have a nose for it. I spent the beginning of my training at the Little Rock K-9 Academy learning that drugs are bad and how to find them. I guess you could say I am a huge tattle tell. That's ok, because I enjoy making streets safe. On top of knowing how to hunt down drugs, I can search out people, good ones and bad ones. I really like to track. I am ready to find lost kiddos and missing bad guys. I just can't wait to get to Parsons and meet everyone. Here is a video of me in action.
