School Resource Officer (SRO)

The School Resource Officer (SRO) program is ran through the Parsons Police Department and funded in part by USD 503. Parsons School Resource Officers are trained by the National Association of School Resource Officers (NASRO). The SRO program is based in the Parsons High school but operates in all USD 503 schools. The SRO provides security for all high school football and basketball home games and coordinates law enforcement efforts in the school. This position works closely with the teachers and establishes positive relationships with students giving them positive interactions with law enforcement officers. Safe Schools and Safer Students are the goals for our SRO Program.

The SRO has been an integral part of the Parsons Police Departments operation within the school for many years and has proven invaluable during times of crisis. Our Current SRO is Officer Shyanne Dunn. Officer Dunn has been with the Parsons Police Department for 1 1/2 years and has been serving as a Patrol Officer since. She is now serving USD 503 in this important duty. Officer Dunn will be continuing to build great relationships with students, faculty, and the community. Building trust and relationships will be Officer Dunn's role for the future in all of USD 503 Schools.
